Canada goose Branta canadensis

All right, all right, it's a Canada goose (Branta canadensis), but I don't know why they're called that. This was taken quite a long ways from Canada.

This image was captured some years back, before I was serious about photography, while I was speaking to a homeowner's association concerning beaver damage – the geese were welcome in the pond, the beaver weren't. I liked the way the colors came out, and hope I did it justice for the web. I also like its serenity.

By the way, if you're going to pay a lot of money for a house in a natural setting with trees and water, the animals generally come with it, and should be considered a bonus. But if you don't want the animals, hey, concrete and traffic generally keep them away...
