A great egret (Casmerodias albus) at the Audubon Society Corkscrew Swamp near Naples, Florida. I waited for a while, hoping to photograph him as he caught his supper, but never saw him make a successful snatch. Sigh.
Considering how many birds were feeding rampantly while I was there, it's a wonder there were any fish left. Meanwhile, the alligators cruised through waiting for their opportunity to snag a careless bird. Very Darwinian. Even the spiders had good hunting.
