Could have been better
cane creek rocks

Hindsight's wonderful. I spent several minutes thigh-deep in this stream, watching fish nibble on my legs (which fascinated me – tells you the kind of exciting life I lead), while I waited for the ripples to die down so I could get a clear reflection. Now, looking at the results, I realize that a long exposure with rippling water would have made the water nice and hazy green, offsetting the rocks better. Live and learn.

Note added 2012: Not long ago, I finally got back to this very stream to attempt just what I speculated about above, and you know what? It wasn't half as powerful as I'd imagined, and this image remains better. Huh. I know you're as surprised as I am to find that I was wrong, but there you have it.
