Just a few meters
from the previous shot, though on a different occasion. In going back through
my negative archives, I scanned in this color frame, but noticed that the film
was distinctly grainy. Not ideal. However, later on I decided to play with it,
and removed the color, then burned out some of the surrounding details to focus
on the mandrills. Added a little grain to the dark areas, and I found I had
produced a slightly surreal portrait. The identical poses of the primates, with
the back one soft and vague, lent an almost cubist feel to it. I like it.
