So, yeah, it’s winter, the slow season, and there isn’t a lot to photograph, which means it’s time for our yearly visit to the Museum of Life & Science, specifically the butterfly house, though on occasion we get some

First, the pic:
And now the backstory. This one’s kind of a favor to the Impertinent Mr Bugg, though Bob knows he doesn’t deserve it, not just for being rude, but also because he still hasn’t done two of his assignments even as he’s messing with his posting dates again.
In March 2000 I was once again touring Florida, cruising down Tamiami Trail (Rt 41) through the Everglades,
Nothing too serious
While we had another fog this morning, one that lasted for quite a while, I couldn’t be arsed to go out to someplace photogenic to chase pics, so I just went over to the pond to see what could be found. None of the landscape shots that I contemplated were really doing it for me, so I just shot a handful of macro frames, really just noodling around. Two of them, however, produced some nice
Sunday slide 3
For this week’s slide, I had originally chosen a rather stark, almost monochromatic frame, then remembered that a couple of years ago I started the Monday Color posts at exactly this time to counteract the grey winter conditions, and so that slide will appear much later on. You know, when we’re overloaded with color and need to offset that, rest our eyes…
I would probably shoot
Look! I took pictures!
No, I have not started the new year with a turnaround from the thinner posting schedule that I maintained last year, and it presently doesn’t seem likely. But I’ll take whatever opportunity I get to post new content, and (for better or worse) I’ll still be podcasting now and then.
Moving on to real content rather than excuses, we did not escape the winter weather that hit the east
Sunday slide 2… and 1
Yeah, so, I missed out on starting this new weekly post for the year by a week. Partially because the film scanner wouldn’t play nice with Windows 10 (imagine that,) partially because I’ve been busier than intended with countless projects these past couple of weeks, but mostly because it didn’t occur to me to start this until a few days ago.
But as the title implies (actually outright
Been saving this abstract
And again, I’m not sure how well it fits into the specific definition of ‘abstract,’ and I don’t care either.
This came from the same outing mentioned here, and is a vertical crop from a slightly larger horizontal frame – I was very pleased with the detail from both
Very early Friday morning color
Just fooling around…
I shot a handful of frames, and chose this one because of the halo around the blue light, which was purely coincidental. All of the out-of-focus orbs are reflections of the tree in the nearby window, in case it wasn’t clear – the crossbar is the decorative frame between the double layer of glass. Thus the stacked orbs, except for those that
Podcast: Equipment
I realize that this isn’t exactly timely when it comes to the holiday season, but I can’t imagine there are a lot of people who are turning to me for guidance in what to purchase for christmas, so I refuse to feel bad about it (See? You can justify anything.) Regardless, I present just a few thoughts about equipment and perspective.

Friday night color
The other morning as I was rushing out the door, the sky was displaying some rich and gorgeous colors, and there wasn’t a thing I could do about them. Well, there was, if I wanted to get fired, but sometimes you have to prioritize. As I was up early enough again this morning, I kept a close eye on sunrise, and was rewarded with some not-quite-as-gorgeous colors, so
