As we come to the penultimate Estate Find for the year, I have to admit that, while a few of them were punted or downright skipped, there was still a surprising amount of new finds, observations, behaviors, and so on. And here we add another new species, at least to me and to the blog:

Just a quick shot from this morning’s frenzy, snapped in the middle of a video clip. There are two things of minor interest within, the reasons I’m posting this. The first is, this was a little before sunrise, or perhaps right at astronomical sunrise (actually, the timestamp is pretty damn close to this mark,) but well before the sun would peek through the trees. Several days back we looked out and suddenly found mallards out there on the pond, after having them all disappear sometime in July I believe. This was noteworthy by itself, to a small degree, but there was an aspect that made us a little excited, in that, some of them might have been ‘ours.’
You see, over the summer we raised a trio of orphaned mallards and, well, no point in repeating
Back on Wednesday when it was Word Snake Day, I went down to Goose Creek State Park specifically to find some snakes, which failed miserably. This did mean, however, that I got into a few areas that I hadn’t been before, and I went prepared for other subjects, so I captured a few images that worked for the overall bloggetty theme, if not for the day itself. So we now get to those.
