This is from the same night as this shot, and probably should have been posted then (or even as the month-end abstract,) but it wasn’t, so here it is because I’m not going to do much else with it. I like how confusing it is solely because the mist drops obscure the necessary details, but if you look closely, you may figure it out.
Or not. You’re looking at the tail and the hind leg of another Carolina anole (Anolis carolinensis) stretched out behind it as it sleeps on a very misty night – you can see the little claws curling upward over the larger drop, as if it was a dragon clutching the favorite bit of its hoard.
By the way, I’ve long thought that Gandalf and company missed a royal opportunity when they got ahold of the Palantir. We know Sauron could see everything through it, right? That’s an outright invitation to put it in view of the most gross or depraved things you can think of. Or even just some of the sitcoms that somehow got approved for production. Could he hear through it too? Because I can name a few bands that should be in that rotation. Gimme a week, I could make Sauron give himself up…
