Here at Walkabout, I’m always happy to use my enormous reader base to help spread awareness, and I suspect there are a few people out there that don’t know that today is also a holiday – they usually don’t line up this close together, but the proximity might still have had a lot to do with how little it’s observed. So let’s join together to celebrate

Doctor Domoore
Like many people – actually, a ridiculous number of them – I grew up with this idea of being a “friend” to the animals. I can remember, from a very early age, going on a camping trip and sleeping in a pop-up camper, wishing (now that I was out in nature) that a raccoon would slip into the camper and curl up on my back to sleep this was my way of
Going through channels
So this past fall, seeing my shadow falling across a view of reflections in still water, I decided to get a little fartsy again (I’ll never learn) and make it an intentional part of the image. I didn’t really want a shadow of someone in the peculiar and recognizable position of taking a photo, so I set the camera and held it down by my hip, assuming a more natural-looking
They’re coming!
I have at least three posts in the lineup, including a podcast, I just haven’t had the time to finish anything yet. But they’re coming – be patient, I’m trying to devote the time to them do them right, you know? No sense in rushing and putting up low quality stuff. You expect more from me.
The days of yore, part four

What are you planning?
Just in case you’ve been, you know, living under a rock or in some heathen country, Saturday March 18th is National Fishing Spider Day, the Dolomedes of March, as it were. Traditionally, this is celebrated with Oysters Rockefeller and Tahitian Treat, but go with whatever you feel is appropriate – on our end, it’ll probably be
Sunday slide 11
Kind of a bizarre one this week, an image I’ve had kicking around since the very early days of slide shooting – in fact, I held off on this one because I suspected that it was from a negative instead, the scan having been in my image folders for years. But since I recently confirmed that it’s from a slide, we’ll proceed.

Podcast: So you want to do this as a business?
Well, far be it from me to tell you how to do it – there are better sources of information out there. But while it’s slow and we’re both bored, I’ll go ahead and provide a little insight, a few pointers, towards approaching photography from the standpoint of making money. Don’t expect a lot, now.
