It’s been a busy couple of days, and so I haven’t cleared any of the backlog while, yes of course, adding to it. So I’ll clear two add-ons and reduce the amount of deficit by a small degree. Seriously, I shouldn’t even be doing this, since I’ve got a shitload of photos to sort too, and will be returning to that once this is posted. Anyway, two from this morning.

Your opinion matters
So does your readership, and in fact, your actual existence – is there anyone actually reading? Plowing ahead anyway…
I have two pairs of very similar photos for you to evaluate, and all I’m looking for is which you like best. Not asking about artistic merit, or which shows better details, or whether I should give up photography and go back to, um… something… just which
Sweep out the amphibians
I’ve got a minor backlog of images to work through – nothing breathtaking, just the various things found around the property that aren’t really Estate Finds, but I’ve been getting plenty of pics and you might as well see some of them. So we’re going to start with the amphibians.
Multitasking
Nearly all of the images herein were obtained while I was out last night after the month-end abstract – it was a nice night after an even nicer day and so the critters were making the most of it.
This one, however, is not from yesterday, but we have kind of a theme going so we’re running with it.
I’ve dealt with this too much before, but amphibians can be a real
Don’t move!
Seriously, don’t move it’s a pain in the ass, takes forever, and results in far too many aches and pains. We’ve still got far too much to go, and Walkabout Studios is going to take a while to be in proper shape. So I haven’t much time to devote to posting, but I’ll slip in here and there as I have a few moments. And in like vein, I snag the occasional
Miss Monday Monochrome?
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve had a couple of images set aside for this purpose, and just added a few more. Let’s see what we have now.
The color version can be found here, but in this case, after converting to individual color channels, I reduced
These are not snakes
No, I’m not trying to show off my amateur naturalist cred, and no, ‘amateur naturalist’ doesn’t mean I’m bad at getting nekkid – that’s ‘naturist,’ goober. And you still wouldn’t want to see it.
No, I’m referring to the fact that all of these were shot while I was looking for snakes for World Snake Day, which is still going on as I
Could this be Al?
It’s been almost a week without anything but my routine weekly post, and for that, I apologize – it’s been a bit busy here, and while I obtained some frames here and there, I never got around to doing anything with them. Today, however, is Prove That You’re Not Dead Day, so it seemed as good a time as any to get them up here. Or for someone to produce a post
Pending further developments
So, I said earlier that the cicada hatching this year wasn’t going to be an onslaught, and now I must amend that because, damn.
First off, the hatchings solely on this property have exceeded expectations, and I’ve spent several nights out there documenting the events – it’s been dozens of individuals, easily, centered on three distinct areas. One of which
Straightening up
Just a handful of photos, some a few weeks old (from before the eclipse, even,) right on up to today, because I felt the need to update some.
We’ll start with another semi-abstract, taken on the day of the previous month-end abstract (though that post had already gone up.)
This is the favorite Japanese maple, a small one that’s remained potted but has the thickest canopy
