Somehow, these months keep ending, which someone should be looking into – I’m sure this isn’t a good thing. But while it’s happening, we’ll at least keep noting this occurrence (until we don’t, anyway) with the month-end abstract. The first was not actually intended to be an abstract as such, but it worked out quite well as one, plus it looks cool. Or at least

While the property has been overrun with bebby anoles, it’s also seeing more than its fair share (whatever that may be) of bebby frogs as well. This is a scale photo of one from the other night:
That is my left thumb. The sickly pink one, I mean, not the green one, and just now I realized I should have named the image, “greenthumb.jpg.” Too late now stupid.
Look at your thumb just

Gotta bunch this time around, and it’s going to be herp-heavy, which means we’re classing together species that barely have any relation to one another scientifically, but they seem kind of the same this means frogs, lizards, and turtles. We’ll try to space them out a bit.
This one should have been in the last post, but I forgot about it until I’d already posted and didn’t
Crikey stroppin’ beeah!
Today, so my calendar informs me, is National Wildlife Day, which is actually different from World Wildlife Day, found on March 3rd and yet somehow not on my calendar. In fact, this is only a National Wildlife Day, since it also falls in February – perhaps it depends
Estate Finds XXXIV
Nothing too exciting this week, so I’m making up for it by providing several different things – quantity instead of quality, the bywords of the US.
Let’s start with one that I discovered while mowing, and thus had to resort to the smutphone to capture, which once again convinced me how much they suck.
The mantids have not been highly visible on the property, and
To beat twenty-three
Last night I took The Girlfriend out to the side of the driveway (livin’ large, you know it!) because the previous evening I’d found that the overgrown spot was loaded with newborn Carolina anoles (Anolis carolinensis) all sleeping on the tall weeds there. Not quite as many there last night, seven as opposed to the eight that I’d seen the night before, but it was still
It’s all cycles or something
It’s been interesting living right on the edge of an ecosystem, and I know that makes little sense because we’re all within an ecosystem no matter what, but what I mean is, we can observe the behavior of the wildlife that uses the ponds throughout the year, at all times of the day and night, and so patterns emerge. We have yet to determine how regular they are, but we see shifts
Blatant disregard
We have relatives over this week, so there hasn’t been a lot of time to find anything new, but while sorting, I did remind myself of this image, obtained the same time as this Estate Find, and set aside to be forgotten.
I mean, how could you resist this pose? The determination, the struggle against adversity?
This is here, by the way, in lieu of recognizing the holiday that fell today, which
Two staples
It’s been a busy couple of days, and so I haven’t cleared any of the backlog while, yes of course, adding to it. So I’ll clear two add-ons and reduce the amount of deficit by a small degree. Seriously, I shouldn’t even be doing this, since I’ve got a shitload of photos to sort too, and will be returning to that once this is posted. Anyway, two from this morning.
Your opinion matters
So does your readership, and in fact, your actual existence – is there anyone actually reading? Plowing ahead anyway…
I have two pairs of very similar photos for you to evaluate, and all I’m looking for is which you like best. Not asking about artistic merit, or which shows better details, or whether I should give up photography and go back to, um… something… just which
