This week, we have a couple of subjects that help lead into further posts, at least one of which may come later on today – I’m starting to get a small stockpile again. So let’s get into it.
With the clearing of the duckweed, which may be due to the appetites of the ducks and geese, or the temperature dropping below their growing range, or both, the water is now
Finished another sorting job last night, 1,600+ images, and so another load of sorting finds, pics that weren’t featured at the time that they were taken, is now awaiting our attention. We’ll do these in chronological order.
The camellia trees/bushes/whatevers, for some reason, aren’t as popular sleeping spots for the Carolina anoles (Anolis carolinensis)
Nearly all of the images herein were obtained while I was out last night after the month-end abstract – it was a nice night after an even nicer day and so the critters were making the most of it.
This one, however, is not from yesterday, but we have kind of a theme going so we’re running with it.

It’s still a little slow, with the exception of the wood duck visits, but spring is threatening to take hold, as evidenced by small factors in various places, and one of those is what we’re featuring this week.
These are the blossoms of the almond tree, which sprouted spontaneously from the compost pile 13 years ago. It’s demonstrating that the move and transplanting
Another winter storm rolled in this week, but less severe than predicted – what we ended up getting was sleet and freezing rain, enough to coat everything but not much more than that. Not long after sunrise the sun had broken through the clouds, but soon afterward the sky became solid overcast and remained that way until just before sundown – I had gotten out before
Naturally, I wasn’t going to leave the snow pics at just some night time exposures – not when we got such a decent, scenic coverage. It’s been a few years since we had a proper snow, and my basic attitude is, once a year, for photos’ sake, and that’s it.

These are all from yesterday, when the temperature here topped 18°c – not bad for December 30th, and I think it got even higher today. A cold snap is on its way, with the possibility of it dipping below -5°c, so these pics are in appreciation, and to refer back to when we’re not going out at all.
