I’ve collected a few too many frogs, so I’m slashing prices and passing the savings on to you. Let’s see if I can complete this before October really and truly has left.
Back on the 10th, I found this little spud sitting on the decorative sweet potato plants alongside the front door, slightly larger than a thumbnail. It behaved well enough to allow me
The video sorting continues apace – still a lot to go, but much more than that done. Still, we need another post, so we’ll check in on the new froglets appearing around Walkabout Estates now.
There have been a couple on the morning glories outside Deep 13 recently, so naturally I chose the smallest.
That’s enough for scale, right? We all know how big morning glory
Yesterday we went on a nice little day trip, and consequently I have just a few photos to put up, but first, we have last night’s news, which is, now it’s official:
Yep, the first appearance of a treefrog, in this case a Copes grey treefrog (Dryophytes chrysoscelis) means that spring is officially here. Sure, we’ve seen some spring peepers before this,
Working my way through the folder of images that I need to do something with, and figured that it’s now time for a few more frogs, si? I mean, oui?
The first three to be featured all came on November 9th, when the weather became unseasonably warm and the frogs were out thinking, Damn, that was a short winter! This one, at least, should have known better given its perch.
A green
Actually, I was rather committed to not even having an Estate Find this week, both from not finding anything new and from having far too many other things taking up my time, but we’re pulling this one out in the last minute, kinda – it was shot in the early evening as we were rearranging things in the yard.
Okay, sure, it’s simply a Copes grey treefrog (Dryophytes
… but now that I have some serious video that I need a voiceover for, it’s raining. We did this on the last one, didn’t we?
Literally a meter from the door
Yes, it’s/they’re more likely female I think, but whatever. Just shut up.
Actually, the white thing is a bucket catching rainbarrel overflow, so I popped the second one into it and carried them both
I’ve got a minor backlog of images to work through – nothing breathtaking, just the various things found around the property that aren’t really Estate Finds, but I’ve been getting plenty of pics and you might as well see some of them. So we’re going to start with the amphibians.
Nearly all of the images herein were obtained while I was out last night after the month-end abstract – it was a nice night after an even nicer day and so the critters were making the most of it.
This one, however, is not from yesterday, but we have kind of a theme going so we’re running with it.
I’ve dealt with this too much before, but amphibians can be a real
So it was a bit of an amphibious day yesterday, meaning that’s what I was finding around Walkabout Estates Plus. We’ll start with the greenhouse:
While, as I said before, the property is absolutely overrun with anoles, they tend to be dry and not leave any evidence of their passing, so while I have found nothing conclusive within these strange, faintly muddy markings
It’s been almost a week without anything but my routine weekly post, and for that, I apologize – it’s been a bit busy here, and while I obtained some frames here and there, I never got around to doing anything with them. Today, however, is Prove That You’re Not Dead Day, so it seemed as good a time as any to get them up here. Or for someone to produce a post
