We’re back to the Jordan Lake session again, but this time we’re going for the high art angle, better than A through E art, and frame-worthy portraits to boot. Get out your checkbook! And do a websearch to find out what a ‘checkbook’ is…
It’s gonna be a little heron-heavy, since that’s what was most present that day, but hey – herons are majestic birds
Sunday evening, we could see the clouds lighting up with the approaching sunset, and hopped in the car to get down to the waterfront, since the sunset (or sunrise) views at Walkabout Estates are lacking – too many trees nearby. On the way, we could see the sun already hidden behind a bank of clouds but edging those with brilliant gold and a few crepuscular rays, but this view
Considering that I made this trip a week ago, I think I’ve stalled long enough on getting the pics up, but there are enough to split into two posts, so here’s the first. We’ll see how many weeks it takes me to get to the second…
Finding myself back in the area on errands, I arranged to meet up with the Inimitable Mr Bugg again and do a trip down to Jordan
Really and for true, it’s the last day of the month – I checked three times. I spent almost as much time on that as I did trying to render those characters in the title. Which is much more than I spent shooting abstract images this month, a time period best defined as, “almost nothing,” so we’re going with images from last month that are also sorting finds. Such as:
I really, really wonder* who comes up with these holidays. I mean, seriously – this one is far too much of a FaceBlerk kind of thing, and I don’t blame anyone for ignoring it, because it accomplishes nothing**. That said, I’m in the rare position to address/celebrate it, so we’ll grudgingly recognize What Were You Doing A Decade Ago? Because exactly a decade
As we advance into our past weekend’s photos, there came the realization that they should be broken up even more, and so we’re going to have a ‘part three’ later on. This past weekend I got back to my old stomping grounds, a metaphor that I don’t exactly know the origin of and hopefully it’s not another that’s sports related, but by this I mean the area that I lived in until not quite two years ago, a more central portion of central North Carolina. Sure, I’ve done this numerous times since we moved, but this time I had some time, the
Is this going to go on all spring? Well, so be it – I can cope.
Glanced out the kitchen window while making lunch and saw a bold splash of white where there had been none before. The view of this particular spot on the edge of The Bay wasn’t good from that angle, nor from the back deck, so I slipped out front and went around the end of the garage, which was more than adequate.

The thick snow and the frozen pond caused a near=total cessation of involvement at the pond edge – no ducks, no geese, no nutrias, no beavers. Just some grackles and blackbirds. We dropped some corn on the edges and across the ice a little, just in case, but even the trail that someone had blazed through the ice had refrozen completely over.
I witnessed a quick pass yesterday around midday,
I know I tend to cycle around the same handful of photo and video subjects herein, but let’s face it: I have easy access to several different forms of wildlife without even leaving the property, so this is what I’m going to have the most photos of, as well as being able to observe behavior better than I ever have before. At least I haven’t fixated on just one subject…
So yes,
