Yeah, I know, it’s a really poor posting schedule for the beginning of the year, and I’d like to say that there’s a good reason, and I will because I’m good at indulging myself, but honestly, there isn’t. It’s been fairly cold with little to see here save for the same ol’ subjects that aren’t doing anything new, though I do have a few video clips to

Last chance for July
It’s that time of the month again – you have until midnight to get what you need from July, because after that it’s gone. We tried to warn you…
And that means it’s end-of-the-month abstract time, though I think I’m abusing the definition of that word again. But here it is anyway, free of charge, so file your complaints appropriately.
After one of
Up too early
One of the cats making a lot of noise this morning woke me up far earlier than I ever should have been, given the time that I went to sleep last night/earlier this morning, but once up, I noticed the nice pall of fog out over the pond and went exploring. One set of photos is going to wait until Friday’s Estate Find, unless I get something even better before then, but we can have these now:
A wee bit of fog
It was definitely a tad foggy this morning around Walkabout Estates Plus, and we elected to go down to the waterfront to see how thick it was down there.
It was.
I was thinking that it might be moody and shadowy, but this surpassed my expectations – the water practically disappeared immediately, because the air was still so the water surface was smooth and reflecting only the
Miss Monday Monochrome?
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve had a couple of images set aside for this purpose, and just added a few more. Let’s see what we have now.
The color version can be found here, but in this case, after converting to individual color channels, I reduced
Moist
Those were the conditions at Mason Farm Biological Reserve the other morning, a sunrise session with the Immortal (So Far) Mr Bugg. The temperatures had finally been dropping overnight, becoming actually cool, and this produced some fog in low-lying areas.
Very specific areas, to be honest while the fog could be seen to extend to the plants right in front

N 35°56’12.12″ W 78°35’55.49″ Google Earth location
I can pin down this location much better than when it was taken, partially because there’s no date stamp on the slide frame and it sits in the ‘Abstract’ section devoid of further context that might lend a clue – I’m going to say 1999, and let you attempt to prove otherwise. I was on –
New York: The ungulates
Considering how often and in how many places we saw the species, I’m a little surprised that I don’t have more photos, but then I remember the circumstances most times. At the Gatsby mansion where we stayed in New York, the property was absolutely loaded with white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus,) but they remained a bit spooky and tended not to stick around
Must be Saturday
… and the Bay City Rollers are excited.
The first Saturday in November is Desaturate Day, as everyone knows. Well, everyone not living under a rock with worm tunnels between their ears, anyway. And thus I’m here to inspire you to wash out, go drab, and reduce it all down to black and white, because everything is simpler that way – for a given definition of “simple,”
Mason Farm 1: Fartsy
I got enough photos from a recent outing to Mason Farm Biological Reserve to separate them into two broader categories, so we start off with the fartsy ones, since I don’t do art.
Actually, we’ll start off starting off with a setting one.
We couldn’t quite call this ‘fog,’ (or at least, I couldn’t, but Buggato had no problem with it) –
